To commemorate the US Government's kidnapping of Haiti's President Jean-Bertrand Aristide — of February 29, 2004 — supporters of Fanmi Lavalas marched from Aristide's former parish, St. Jean Bosco, through the neighborhood strongholds and up to the CEP offices on Route Delmas. The manifestasyon took place on February 28, 2009 to protest the decision to exclude Fanmi Lavalas from the upcoming Senatorial elections in order to stock up the Parliament with Lespwa senators the very day after the meeting between President Rene Préval and the USA's Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, a few weeks earlier. photo ©2009 Randall White

US Embassy in Haiti, respect the Will of the People of Haiti

A notice of intent to collect signatures and file a petition from the People of Haiti

As reported in the New American Empire's mouthpiece — AP — the US State Department stated that "The U.S. remains focused on helping ensure … that the second round of elections, scheduled for March 20, accurately reflect the will of the Haitian people."

First of all, we want to acknowledge the USA's awareness of the fact that any vote in Haiti belongs solely to the Will of the People of Haiti.

We therefore petition the US Embassy in Haiti in order to serve notice that the March 20, 2011 Election DOES NOT "reflect" the Will of the People of Haiti.

As the People of Haiti; we want our election to be free, fair and open to all Citizens of Haiti. This election is NOT.

As the People of Haiti, we want our election to be constitutional. This election is NOT.

As the People of Haiti, we want our election to be legal. This election is NOT.

As the People of Haiti, we want the CEP to be constitutionally formed. The current CEP is NOT.

It is well documented that many valid candidates and political organizations were excluded from participation in Haiti's elections. In particular, Fanmi Lavalas was barred from participation in Haiti's national elections. This exclusion was announced the very day after the meeting between President Rene Préval and the USA's Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, in February of 2009.

As the People of Haiti, we demand that no pressure from any foreign power be exerted to exclude Fanmi Lavalas from participation in our electoral process.

Fanmi Lavalas knows how to respect the Will of the People of Haiti.

Fanmi Lavalas knows how to constitutionally represent the Will of the People of Haiti.

Until all elections are free, fair and open to all Haitians they will NOT reflect the Will of the People of Haiti.

Until the CEP is legally formed according to the Constitution of the People of Haiti; and without interference from ANY foreign interests, elections in Haiti will NOT reflect the Will of the People of Haiti.

We, the People of Haiti demand that the US Embassy in Haiti respect the Will of the People of Haiti and this call for a NEW free, fair and inclusive national election.

We, the undersigned state that we are constitutionally recognized as Citizens of the Republic of Haiti and are eligible to vote in any free, fair and inclusive election in Haiti.
